HASBRO Games approached M8 in search of an innovative, newsworthy idea that could bridge an activation with the digital world for the launch of their new line of Nerf products in Peru. The challenge: recreate the excitement of real-time play with Nerf in a highly participatory and public fashion that supported a contemporary positioning of the product.

Out of Home + Mobile + Gaming = A Multi-platform experience


Our solution: create an interactive outdoor gaming experience in one of Lima’s most popular malls. Bringing together the elements of Out of Home, Mobile and Gaming, our in-house technologists developed a multi-platform experience. The entry of a code creates a unique instance that fundamentally converted the shoppers’ mobile phones into virtual Nerf guns. This allowed them to play on a giant outdoor screen.

Participants not only released their inner-gamer, but also earned points and were able to win prizes including a Nerf gun. The impact of the experience garnered significant earned media, where the press and local radio and television broadcast stations covered the launch praising the unique experience that was generated for the public to interact. The competitive nature and shareability of the experience expanded its reach through social media as much as it did in traditional outlets.
